Responsibility for accountability

In the present governance structure of companies, the executive management is accountable to the board, which in turn is accountable to the shareholders and other stakeholders. “Transparency reinforces accountability. Therefore, regulators are striving for improving transparency at all levels,” states the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in Code of Governance for NGOs.
