The advent of computers heralded a new age for many forensic sciences and among the first to utilise the technology was the science of fingerprints, writes Max M. Houck in Forensic Science: Modern methods of solving crime. “Capturing, storing, searching, and retrieving fingerprints via computer is now a standard practice among police agencies and forensic science laboratories,” he adds.
